Somewhere Between the Chocolates

When we visited Zurich, we had specially kept the Lindt Lindor Chocolate Museum for our five-year-old daughter. She was extremely excited about the visit. We knew she would love it—after all, chocolates are a favourite for most children.

But what I remember most is not the chocolate itself. I remember watching her expressions.

She never seemed bored during the entire visit. Every room had something new for her. She happily explored, tasted the chocolates, watched how they were made, and moved from one experience to another with the same excitement. And finally, when she received her goodies filled with chocolates, the happiness on her face said it all.

As a parent, I was quietly observing her.

And somewhere between those rooms filled with chocolate, I realised something very simple.

Whatever we truly love, we do happily.

We don’t need someone to push us. We don’t need motivation every few minutes. We don’t keep looking at the clock. We simply enjoy being there.

Maybe that’s what children teach us so naturally. Give them something they love, and they don’t ask, “How much longer?” They simply live the moment.

Perhaps growing up makes us forget this.

We start doing many things because we have to—not because we love them. And slowly, we forget how much easier the journey can feel when there is genuine joy behind what we do.

Watching my little girl that day reminded me that sometimes the simplest motivation is also the strongest one—

Find something you love, and you will find a way to enjoy the journey.

That day, she found chocolate.

I found a little reminder about life.
